The “Dom im Berg”, which means as much as “Dome in the mountain” is a broad cathedral dug into the solid rocks of the “Schlossberg” – Graz’ own little big mountain. 20 meters wide, 12 meters high and 28 meters deep is it the most outstanding event location imaginable.
vokal.total uses this exclusive exhibition and event room for “vocal” purposes.
This pompous and lavishly decorated hall combines the attraction of historical walls with the joie de vivre of the Baroque era. The prestigious chamber, with its excellent acoustics, is a superb venue for the classical category of the A Cappella Competition.
Originally, the Minoritensaal was the summer refectory of the Minorite Monastery, thus, it was the dining room of the friars.
We bring A Cappella Music into the public space with our Marktschreierei (market yelling) since 2015. This opening event for our competition feels more and more like a big family meeting. We will have a look at the Schloßberg from the outside and the chance to fuel up the batteries with some sunlight, since the rest of the week we will be inside this mountain. With its unique flair and its divers gastronomy it has become a favorite place for the Grazers to linger for a cozy sundowner.
You can get your tickets, information or have a nice conversation at out Festival Center at the GrazMuseum. It is located at Palais Khuenburg in the centre of Graz nearby the Schloßberg and close to our stage in the Dom im Berg. For us a reason to present a little bit of the stunny and rather unknown history of the building.
